2014 Mazda6

The Mazda6 is back from its short hiatus. And to be honest, it was time away well spent, the new Mazda flagship sedan has returned with an extreme amount of attitude. While some of us were surprised to see the current KIA Optima and newly revised Nissan Altima & Ford Fusion, the new Mazda6 might be the winner in the contest of “Best Restyled Sedan”. Body arches and profile almost resembles that of the Infiniti M, which is also quite a beautiful vehicle.

After all the hype of how great it looks, the new 6 sadly starts to make you wonder, why? And to explain, the new 6 will only be available in sedan and wagon body trims.”Well, that’s just like the old models”. Yeah, well its 2012 and the American market doesn’t really show interest in the wagon segment, a Mazda6 coupe would’ve have been a better choice. And then there’s the engine availability; five different 4-cylinder engines, a 2.0 liter gas, a 2.2 liter turbodiesel, 2.5 liter gas, and both a 6-speed manual & automatic. Maximum power output comes from the range topping 189 horsepower 2.5 liter engine, 0-60 in 7.6 seconds.

Without a doubt the arches in the body panels and updated interior, makes the new Mazda6 one hell of a re-entry to the competitive mid-size segment. But limited body & engine options might hurt Mazda unless they can really position the 6 as a truly fun to drive car without a v6 or coupe option.

Fiorano King: 2013 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

Remember when you were younger, around Christmas or your birthday, you would bombard your parents with one particular gift you would really like to have? And as the special days approaches, you spot something wrapped in the closet, fitting the profile of that gift, causing you to lose sleep the night before in utter excitement. Well, this is not quite that feeling, but it’s pretty close.

Why isn’t it? Well, Ferrari being the “parent”, that one “gift” we’ve been googling for is the next Enzo. Ok, so maybe this isn’t the massive super-soaker you asked for, but this is definitely a water gun that will still have you going out Rambo style as you take on your neighborhood friends.

Enough about that, lets get to the good part; the lusty F12 Berlinetta. This thing looks so bad-ass, it should be a sin. That demonic grin is more than enough to lure Eve in to take a bite of the apple, again. Performance? Welcome to the gates of hell. As the replacement to the 599 Ferrari, expectation was a little high. And the 6.3 liter v12 engine producing 731 galloping horses is beyond satisfying. The F12 laps Ferrari’s Fiorano 1.9 mile track in 1 minute and 23 seconds, 3.5 seconds faster than the 599. Making it officially the fastest Ferrari to lap the track, including the current Enzo supercar.

So now, that water gun you originally thought was just good enough, turned out to be the baddest aquatic weaponry on the block.

Break Down coming as soon as more information is available

Volvo S60 Polestar: M3/C63 AMG Killer?

Ok, first off, Polestar isn’t quite the official tuning division of Volvo like M is to BMW or AMG is to Benz, but they are long time partners nonetheless. Polestar has been promising us a tuned up version of Volvo’s possibly best seller, the S60. Well, we can stop with the heavy sighs and “yeah right” remarks because it seems that the car will see the light of day.

The Polestar S60 is said to utilize a turbocharged 3.0 liter inline-six, power reaching up to 508 horses and 424 lb-ft of torque Six-speed manual transmission and an updated all wheel drive system. How fast does it go? 0-62 is said to be achieved in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 186mph. Now that’s some eye-popping numbers from a production car with a Volvo emblem. Not that Volvo is slacking, the S60 R-Design has over 300 horses and lb-ft of torque doing 60 in 5.5 seconds. However, the Polestar is quite amazing. It actually matches the performance of an Audi R8 in 0-62. To answer the question, is the Polestar S60 a potential M3/C63 killer? Well, the Germans achieve the 0-62 test in the low 4 second mark. So far based on the little information we have on the S60, yes it just might be.

As of now, the Polestar is said to be a one-off project for a select customer. And if Volvo does see a market for it, it will be built with limited production. Bad news for us here in the U.S.; but Volvo should seriously reconsider. Another car to rival the M3 & C63 will definitely be a hot seller. But what do I know? I just drive cars.

BMW: Future of The 7-Series

There’s some big news coming from BMW’s flagship sedan, the 7-Series. First, the 7 was just revised with a mid-cycle refresh. It seems to adapt some design cues from it’s 6-Series sibling mainly in the headlight styling. Also, the kidney grill is slightly smaller and there are some chrome touches to the bumpers. Other than that, the car remains the same as it was when it first debut 3 years ago.

But things change when you get to the performance aspect. There’s a new 8 speed automatic transmission and an additional 45 horses added to the 750i & 750Li twin-turbo V8’s, making a total 445 horsepower. The twin-scroll turbocharged I6 740i & 740Li models get 315 horses, but now an optional all wheel drive feature has been added. As far as the V12 760Li goes, it keeps the same 535 horsepower 6.0 liter engine. This gets us to the other news circulating the 7-Series

Before, if you wanted something more than the V12 760Li, you pretty much had to get an Alpina B7; a very fine car it is. But, 7-Series and ‘M’ fans all over have something to look forward to. It seems that the prestige 7 might be joining its siblings and getting its own M variant. That’s right, a M7 just might be something to expect in the future. How did this come about? BMW of North America’s CEO, Ludwig Willisch, is seriously pushing the main Munich BMW headquarter to create a M7 super luxo-sedan. And it seems that Ludwig has support from other regional BMW CEO’s. For those who don’t know, Lugwig once was the president of the M division. So everything is pointing in the right direction to expect a M7.

BMW Zagato Coupe

BMW and Zagato have been working on the Zagato coupe for quite some time. The German/Italian collaboration one-off car seems to be based on the BMW Z4. A short documentary showcases the special car to come.

KIA K9 Launches In Korea

The BMW 7-Series look alike, otherwise known as the KIA K9, has officially launched. Set to be the counterpart to its sister car, the Hyundai Genesis, it seems like it piggybacks more of Hyundai Equus in terms of the level of luxury. Mainly because the interior does seem to be of a slightly higher class than that of the Genesis. All the back seat luxury amenities are not provided in the Genesis, but more in the Equus…actually looks almost like a 7-Series inside and out with the exception of…never mind, BMW has done it already.

Now, don’t take this the wrong way, the K9 does look like a very promising car, especially for those who want the high end luxury cruiser, but don’t want to dish out nearly six-figures worth of hard work so their 6 year old child can be entertained in the lap of luxury of the back seat  more than they are. I just wished KIA would’ve went a different route in the design, maybe made it more of an evolved KIA Optima, rather than the watered down clone of the 7-Series. Yes, I will keep talking about it, because I have high hopes for KIA, but this was an uninspiring, yet great attempt.

Chinese Nissan Sylphy Possible 2013 Sentra?

During the Beijing auto show, Nissan revealed the next generation Nissan Sylphy, the Chinese version of the Sentra sold here in the United States. It’s not actually concrete that this is the next generation Sentra. But being the Sylphy has very close resemblance to the brand new 2013 Nissan Altima, it’s almost certain that this will be what the next Sentra will look like. The upside down trapezoid grill and wrap around LED boomerang taillights seem to be the new design language of new Nissan models, and both the Altima & Sylphy share those design cues along with similar interior styling. So this is pretty much an idea of what to expect with the new Sentra.

2013 Nissan Altima Revealed

Photo’s of the 5th generation Nissan Altima has finally be revealed. It clearly takes ditches the styling of the previous model and adopts some of the design cues of it’s bigger brother, the Maxima. Because of this, it almost safe to say the Altima will again eat away at the sales of the Maxima like previous generations. But Nissan is to blame for that. Rather than point out faults, lets get back to the car at hand. Nissan states that the new Altima is so well engineered that not only is it above it’s classmates, but that it is now gunning for BMW’s 3-Series and Mercedes C-Class. Yes, you read correctly, a front wheel drive sedan is targeting for the likes of Germans top 2 luxury performers. How surprised can we be? Nissan has a way to pick battles with top contenders (GT-R vs Porsche 911…Infiniti M hybrid vs Porsche Panamera Hybrid). But lets not get carried away, there’s a break down on the way of the new Altima.

Jaguar XF Sportbrake

I’ve been hearing about several brands planning wagon(Shooting brake/Sportbrake) variants to some of their models, like the CLS Benz. But Jaguar is prepping for the release of it’s mid-size XF’s Sportbrake. I have to admit, it’s quite a gorgeous car, Jaguar is definitely on to something. Hopefully we can expect the XF-R Sportbrake to have enough power to compete with the Cadillac CTS-V & E63 AMG sports wagons.

Maserati Quattroporte Spied

Photo’s of the next generation Quattroporte being tested in full camouflage. Its said to be doing it’s winter test in the North Sweden. What can be seen from the photo’s is that the new Quattro is much bigger than it’s current model. Also, the rear of the next Trident car appears to take on a hatchback design, falling somewhere in between the Audi A7 & Porsche Panamera appeal. Performance? A 475 horsepower 4.7 liter V8 with an 8-speed transmission and All Wheel Drive drive-train.

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta

The most powerful Ferrari to date. We hear the next Enzo will be gunning for Bugatti’s Veyron. But this, the F12, is the 599’s successor and the stallion’s response to Lamborghini’s raging bull, Aventador. The new Ferrari is said to be good for 730 horses (no pun intended) and 508 lb-ft of torque. Stay tuned, BC will certainly have a Break Down of this sick ass ride.

Maserati GranTurismo Sport

Maserati has released plans to update it’s current and astheically pleasing GranTurismo S coupe. The Sport model will be a hard-top variant of the convertible that was launched last year. Still packing a 4.7 liter V8 good for 460 horsepower, capable of achieving 0-60 in less than 5 seconds.

The car is said to come with a six speed automatic and paddle shifters. While no major changes come to the GranTurismo, minor refreshments have been made. New LED headlamps, aerodynamic enhancing front bumper, and “smoked” taillights. BC will have more on the car as it is set to be officially revealed at the Geneva Auto Show.

2013 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Super Snake

The car that has single handily held up the views of BC for nearly the past two weeks, is claimed to be the Camaro ZL1 killer; with 650 horses that can carry the car over 200 mph. This new Mustang also gains the updated features such as projector headlamps and the new tail light design.

2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

(It’s only fair) The most powerful Camaro ever produced. Chevy has claimed though the new Mustang may be able to beat it in a straight line, the ZL1 is light years ahead on the track. Millions have watched as Chevy has been perfecting their latest performance ride. And unlike the Mustang, the Camaro will also be tuned better to handle daily driving.

2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Super Bee.

Unlike it’s rivals [Camaro/Mustang], Chrysler has yet to create a high performance Challenger. However the new Super Bee edition (also available on the Dodge Charger) does make it more exciting to look at, if that counts for anything. Same 470 horsepower producing engine.

2012 Infiniti G-Coupe IPL

Infiniti’s first vehicle under it’s new performance division, IPL (Infiniti Performance Line), is the modified G37 coupe. Gunning at BMW’s M and Mercedes’ AMG divisions to compete on a higher playing field. Aside from additional horsepower, the IPL G coupe gains aesthetic designs such as front lips, side skirts, exclusive rims, and a slightly bigger and deeper growling exhaust (as if the original wasn’t good enough)

2013 Nissan GT-R

Japan’s Godzilla has been updated, yet again. When Nissan said the GT-R will increase in power with every year, they weren’t lying. While the GT-R was given a 45 horsepower bump-up for the 2012 year, it gets a modest 15 hp increase for the 2013 model, bringing the total to 545. The new GT-R is also said to hit 60 well under 3 seconds rivaling that of the Bugatti Veyron; and cover a quarter mile in less than 10 seconds. While Nissan’s halo car has certainly gotten faster, the rumors of their being an Infiniti counterpart has been squashed. So Godzilla will be tearing up tracks around the world by it’s lonesome. Wave good-bye to the Infiniti Essence.

2013 Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series

Packing 510 horses (59 more than a standard C63) & 457 lbs-ft of torque, borrowing a rear-axle from it’s E-Class sibling, and projected to be leaving soon because of high emissions, the Blackk Series C63 coupe is definitely a monster. This power packed baby of the Benz brand will only hit American shores with less than 100 models.

2012 Hyundai Azera (Grandeur)

Technically, we can’t say Hyundai has added yet another car to it’s line-up because the Azera was there prior to the brands recent success. So since Hyundai has decided to bring it back from it’s hiatus, it does look good. Much more modern and appealing compared to it’s former “grandfather” design.
